Australia voted to ban social media for kids under 16. But how tech companies should comply with the new law remains a big question.

Australia becomes the first country in the world to ban children from social media, including TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, Reddit, X and Instagram.

The Australian government introduced what it’s called “world-leading” legislation in parliament this week to wipe social media accounts – including Snapchat, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit and X – from the devices of children under 16.
