Amid the escalating concerns over the condition of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh in the wake of the arrest of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) priest Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari,

Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Wednesday (27 November) expressed concern over attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, saying the country's interim government is under the influence of Islamist "fundamentalists" and called for UN intervention. Condemning the arrest of a Hindu leader in Bangladesh, he said such attacks are against humanity.

Former Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud criticized Muhammad Yunus, the country's chief advisor, for his remark that the issue of attack on Hindu minority community in Bangladesh is "overhyped".
