The national forecaster has been keeping people updated with the latest weather news, as Storm Bert is expected to make landfall at around midnight - bringing damaging winds and high levels of rain

As the clean cup continues following the worst effects of Storm Bert, a series of new weather warnings have come into effect. They warn that travel may be dangerous due to the conditions, including the potential for fallen trees and displaced debris due to high winds that are expected

A separate status yellow warning has been issued by the UK Met Office for Northern Ireland for the period from midnight until 11am on Saturday. “Storm Bert will bring a spell of rain, preceded by snow in places, on Friday night into Saturday which may cause some disruption,” it states.

Storm Bert is gearing up to reach Ireland as Met Eireann has issued a red warning for two counties. As Ireland is set to be battered by rain in the coming hours, the warnings have been upgraded - with more counties possibly upgraded later today.
