Eknath Shinde has grabbing the spotlight since the BJP-led NDA, also known as the Mahayuti alliance, secured a landslide victory in recent Maharashtra polls.

Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Saturday announced the date of swearing-in ceremony of the newly-formed Mahayuti government in Maharashtra. The swearing-in ceremony will take place on December 5.

NCP Chief Ajit Pawar confirmed the decision for the BJP to lead Maharashtra's government, while the Mahayuti alliance faces delays. As caretaker CM Eknath Shinde deals with health issues, the oath-taking ceremony is set for December 5 with Prime Minister Modi in attendance.

In addition to the BJP's dominance with 132 seats in the 288-member Assembly, the Shiv Sena secured 57 seats, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction won 41 seats, enabling the Mahayuti alliance to form a government comfortably.

The Mahayuti alliance will form a new government in Maharashtra on December 5. Devendra Fadnavis is the frontrunner for the chief minister post. The BJP emerged as the largest party in recent assembly polls.

A key Mahayuti meeting scheduled on Friday was put off and likely to take place on Sunday now as caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde headed to his native village in Satara district, delaying government formation further.
